Emerson's Birth Story!!!

So I am a very huge slacker and its been 8 weeks since Emerson was born, so sorry for the long post. I just want to share for those that would like to know.  I will also do some more posts to catch up on what has gone on in the weeks since so stay tuned.
I went in for my weekly doctor's appointment late afternoon on Tuesday March 1st.  My BP was high  so the doctor decided to send me to the hospital for monitoring.  He said that depending on how the monitoring and labs came out he would probably induce me later that night.  I asked him, " How bad do they have to be for you to induce tonight, or is there anyway we could wait till Thursday the 3rd."  He laughed and said that he had never had a patient ask to wait at this point in the pregnancy.  I then told him,"Tomorrow is my Birthday and I don't want to be in labor on my birthday." He said we will see. So I headed to the hospital for my testing.  After 2 hours that felt like forever, the nurse came in and handed me some paperwork, and said, "The doctor said to come in at 6 AM Thursday morning to be induced," she then said that he told her that if I hadn't asked him to wait he would have admitted me right then. So I told her the story and she laughed.  Later that night John took me out for an early birthday dinner, just in case something happened the next day.
So I went in to be induced it was pushed back so by the time I was admitted and hooked up to the IV and Pitocen it was around 1 PM.  Things were going along great and I was just waiting as long as I could for the Epidural, when the Dr. walked in and said, " I'm gonna break your water." "Great I should have got the Epidural first." About 30 minutes after he broke my water I got the Epidural and was feeling great.  By 8 I was fully dialated, and the Dr. said to give me an hour to let the Baby finish moving down on his own. At a little after 9 the nurse came in and said lets do some practice pushes, I did two reps and she said I better go call the Dr. she came back in and I did 3 more reps and she said I better go tell the Dr. to hurry up.  She was just walking out the door when he walked in.  Next thing the room is in a frenzy and they are hurrying to set everything up.  I start pushing, and then I hear the Dr. say ok relax, and a couple seconds later I heard the baby crying.  From the time the nurse called the Dr. to when Emerson was born was 16 minutes.  Emerson Arthur Cumming was born on March 3, 2011 at 9:36 PM, weighed 6 lbs 5 oz and was 20 in long.  Emerson is John's middle name and his Paternal Grandfather's first name, Arthur is after my Dad.
We are so blessed to have him here safe and sound and thankful for this great blessing the Heavenly Father has sent to us.  Here are some pics of the experience.  Thanks for letting us share with you.

Going Home Outfit

Welcome Home Little One!!!

Sleeping away in the beautiful Cradle that my
 Late Uncle Emmett crafted.

About a week after we brought him home he would scoot himself over so
that he mashed his face against the bars and could stick his hands out little fart.

When Emerson was 2 weeks old we took him home to meet the rest of the family.  Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins, here are some of those pictures.

Baby Showers and Nursery

So I've been a huge slacker and need to catch up.  So here are some pics of the Baby Showers and the Nursery.  I had a great shower in Caliente put on by my Mom and Sisters. I then had one the following weekend in Cedar City with a bunch of Friends and very missed Co-Workers. Our Nursery theme is Dr. Seuss so my Mom went all out with that theme for the Caliente shower.  Here you go.
This was an awesome quilt made by my Sister in Laws Mom.
Dr. Seuss all the way!!!

My Mom went crazy and made like six quilts, she was a
sewing fool.

My Dad got to feel him poking out his little foot

Me with all my beautiful Sisters!!!

Loved this cake my Mom had made by a great lady in Caliente

John's Mom used to read him this book all the time.
He still has it memorized to this day and will recite it by heart!

John's Sister gave us this outfit, it says "Daddy loves me
more than Football." John said he's not sure that could be
pushing it.

My awesome friend made this great cake for my Cedar shower.
She is so talented!

These are some friends from my Cedar shower.  The two on left
were hosts, the one on the right came all the way from Wyoming
to be there.  Such great friends I have!

So here are some pics of the nursery, its a very small room so it looks really cramped, but it will work just great for him.

So weird to see his closet full of all his little clothes.
Great thing is being a preschool techer had its advantages
that bottom shelf is completly filled with children's books.

This is a very precious cradle to me.  It was made by my late Uncle
it was used by my neices and nephews.
I am so excited and blessed to have a little one of my own to put in this great piece of craftsmanship.
